Private health insurance

Private plans the marketplace doesn't list.

Some of the best-fitting plans aren't on the public exchange. We compare private, off-marketplace options side by side with ACA plans so you can weigh network breadth against price — no guesswork.

Private health insurance

Private vs. marketplace coverage

"Private health insurance" simply means a plan you buy directly from a carrier or through a licensed agent rather than on the public exchange. Some are fully ACA-compliant off-marketplace plans; others are alternative products with different rules. The exchange never shows these, so people who only shop HealthCare.gov never see part of the market.

There's an important trade-off: premium tax credits can only be used on marketplace plans. If you qualify for a subsidy, a marketplace plan is often the better value. If you don't qualify — because of income or timing — a private plan may offer a broader network or a design that fits you better for a similar price.

Because we're an independent agency, we put both in front of you and check networks and drug coverage before you decide. That's the whole point of using an independent agent instead of a single carrier's website.

Can I use a subsidy on a private plan?

No. Premium tax credits apply only to plans bought on the marketplace. If you qualify for a subsidy, we'll usually show you the marketplace option first — but if you don't qualify, a private off-marketplace plan can be very competitive.

Are private plans ACA-compliant?

Some are and some aren't. Off-marketplace ACA plans cover pre-existing conditions and essential benefits just like exchange plans; other private products have different rules. We label each clearly so you know exactly what you're buying.

Does it cost anything to use Health Enrollment Center?

No. We're a licensed insurance agency paid by the carriers, not by you. The premium of any plan is identical whether you enroll through us or directly with the insurer — you just also get an agent who handles renewals and claims questions.

Is this HealthCare.gov or a government marketplace?

No. Health Enrollment Center is a brand operated by Sprinter Insurance Agency LLC, a private licensed insurance agency. We are not HealthCare.gov, not a state exchange, and not affiliated with any government agency. We help you enroll in marketplace plans when they're the best fit, and we also show private plans the marketplace doesn't carry.
