New Jersey does not use HealthCare.gov. It runs its own marketplace, Get Covered New Jersey, and kept 2026 enrollment open through the end of January. More than 509,000 residents are covered through it, and about eight in ten qualify for financial help — partly because the state stacks its own NJ Health Plan Savings on top of federal credits, reaching incomes up to 600% of the poverty line.
The 2026 carriers are Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, AmeriHealth, Ambetter from WellCare, Oscar, and UnitedHealthcare. Care in the north runs through RWJBarnabas, Hackensack Meridian, and Atlantic Health; central Jersey shares those systems plus Penn Medicine Princeton; and the south is Cooper, Virtua, and Jefferson. No single plan holds every system, so match the network to your hospitals.
We're licensed in New Jersey and enroll people directly through Get Covered NJ. Below is how coverage and the state subsidies work here, plus the metros and situations we help with most — the self-employed, families, and early retirees paying their own way.
New Jersey runs its own exchange, Get Covered New Jersey, on its own platform — not HealthCare.gov — with 2026 enrollment open through the end of January.
New Jersey expanded Medicaid (NJ FamilyCare) up to 138% of the poverty line, and adds its own NJ Health Plan Savings subsidies for incomes up to 600% of poverty above that floor.
